207 Pound Python Shot In Okeechobee

Cory Surls, 11, spotted a giant snake on the bank of the canal next to Okeechobee Veterinary Hospital and ran to get his uncle, veterinarian Doc Harvey.

Harvey shot the snake in the head, killing it. The clinic then reported the snake to Animal Control and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The python was 17 feet long, weighed 207 pounds, and measured 26 inches in diameter.

New information has been released in the murder investigation of an Okeechobee woman found stabbed to death Tuesday night.

Roberta Christensen reportedly won a large flat screen television in a raffle last Christmas. The television is missing from the home.

Okeechobee Woman Found Murdered

A 49 year old Okeechobee woman was found last night murdered in her home on NE 11th Court, in the Pine Ridge Park subdivision.

Roberta "Bobbie" Christensen was found by her son and daughter-in-law last night. Sheriff's detectives have several leads but are not yet releasing the motive for the murder.
