207 Pound Python Shot In Okeechobee

Cory Surls, 11, spotted a giant snake on the bank of the canal next to Okeechobee Veterinary Hospital and ran to get his uncle, veterinarian Doc Harvey.

Harvey shot the snake in the head, killing it. The clinic then reported the snake to Animal Control and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The python was 17 feet long, weighed 207 pounds, and measured 26 inches in diameter.
